How big a job is this?

Hi

We are moving into our new house in the next few weeks (hopefully!!!). It has this old boiler on the kitchen wall. The vendor said he would remove it before completion, but has now said he hasn’t got the money.

How big a job is it to remove it? Costly?

It’s in the kitchen, which we will be replacing anyway, so I guess it can be done as part of that job. It was replaced with a new boiler upstairs 8 years ago.

Not a massive job if there is a new boiler already. Take it off the wall and cap the gas pipes. Worst thing will be making good the wall behind but if you're doing the kitchen anyway I'd just do it all as part of that.

Ok, thanks. I just figured with him saying he didn’t have the money to do it, that it might be an expensive job!

He probably just doesn't want the hassle. I don't think it will cost you anything as part of a complete kitchen refit.

Legally, it would have to be done by a Gas safe registered plumber (or whatever the proper term is now) but if you're having a plumber do stuff in the kitchen anyway, it shouldn't be a huge amount of additional work

After 8 years id be very surprised if it’s connected to the gas, they probably rerouted the supply to the new boiler.

@Diyextension

That’s what I assumed too. That it must have been disconnected properly when they installed the new one.
