Ipswich, kesgrave or Woodbridge?

We sold our house and have been renting in Woodbridge. We've been looking for our next home here for 2 years. There are so few houses coming on the market within our price range we are getting disheartened. Estate agents say prices are dropping but sellers here holding out for unrealistic prices. Wondering about moving to kesgrave or Ipswich instead but worried we will regret it.
I lived on the outskirts of a busy city previously and loved it so wondering if Ipswich would be a better fit for us and perhaps more to do?
Tell me about kesgrave and Ipswich please.

My sister was considering Woodbridge, but eventually bought in Old Felixstowe. She is really loving it there I was surprised what range of independent shops the town had.

We are north west Ipswich. We can walk into town, but there's not much there anymore. Playgrounds in Ipswich are very good and there's lots for kids to do, club and activity wise. Prices on my road (3/4 bed terrace) are around £250k though. Kesgrave is much more expensive and there's definitely an element of "keeping up with the Joneses" on some estates there - eg going all out decorating for Halloween and Christmas, getting new cars because the neighbours have etc. also can't walk into town, I find that part of town much more car heavy with lots of traffic.

If you're hoping to stay in Woodbridge for high school (farlingaye), I know that the young population of Woodbridge is declining so much that farlingaye is under subscribed. A friend got her child in this year, when she was living on my side of Ipswich before their house move to Felixstowe!

Hope that helps!

If you have children, I know the schools around the kesgrave area are good including the high school. There is also a good network of cycle paths around the area, can easily get a bus into Ipswich if needed. What is your budget? Family houses for sale in Woodbridge are in short supply.

We live locally , what is your budget ? We are probably one of those sellers not putting their house on the market, a lot of sales around here are private especially in Woodbridge

Thanks cyclamenqueen.
I have messaged you.

Depends on your budget and what size house you are looking for really. I live in East Ipswich and am very happy here. The town centre isn't great, but the East side is fine, also the areas around Christchurch Park (although they are beyond my budget!). There are things to do in Ipswich but it totally depends what things you're interested in. Do you have children/what age etc.

I have also lived in Kesgrave which was great when I had a young child, but he's now 22, and not sure Kesgrave is as nice as it was 15-20 years ago. But still an ok area I think.
