Completion nerves

We are due to complete tomorrow, after exchanging on Friday and I am a bundle of nerves.

I have this pit in my stomach that something is going to go wrong, but can't think of anything that could!

Our mortgage provider sent a text last week saying our funds would be sent over to our solicitor today, we have already sent our deposit money over so they should have everything they need for tomorrow.

We are also buying an empty property, so should be no hold up of sellers moving out etc.

Is it normal to feel physically sick when it is this close? We are FTB and my husband is so calm about everything, whilst I have barely slept and feel really jittery

It's unlikely to fall apart now. Try not to worry, your 95% of the way there.

It is normal @SolemnlySwear2010 to feel anxious at this point.

It is a huge financial investment and you have probably struggled to get to this point so it is the culmination of months of worry. But your move sounds about as straightforward as they get. Try to focus today on practical things like packing up and making sure you have thought of all the people you need to inform about the new address. Good Luck for a smooth moving day tomorrow.

Hi @SolemnlySwear2010 yes totally normal to feel nerves. All will be ok, don't worry xx

You actually can't exchange until funds are pre-released so unless someone in the chain suddenly dies it's very unlikely to fall apart

It is so stressful!!!! There will be minor hiccups but nothing major should go wrong.

i was buying a chain free property too - only thing was the vendors solicitor disappeared and I didn’t get the keys until 4pm. Made it a bit stressful as I had a moving van full of all my worldly possessions and was homeless!!

but all came good in the end.

I also managed to lose my carkeys in the boxes. I was stressed and not paying attention.

I can laugh now🫣.

good luck

This was me a few weeks ago except we hadn’t exchanged yet and it was all going to have to happen on completion day itself.

I convinced myself the night before that the seller of had died and it was all going to fall through. Yes, I am dramatic.

Completion was smooth sailing in the end and nothing went wrong at all! Completely normal to be nervous, and I’m sure by his time tomorrow you’ll have the keys and wonder what you worried about!

Well I can say, I was panicking for no reason. Went extremely smooth and had the call around 12:30 to collect the keys. Just glad to that it is over and can focus on moving in / decorating

Thank you everyone
