We want to have a wall knocked through between our dining room and lounge, at least 6ft wide. It is a load bearing wall so it will need a steel across it. Have absolutely no idea how much that will cost these days, so wondered if anyone knew? I know building cost are very high ATM. We’re in SE england. Thanks.

I had the exact same done and it was around £3k for the removal and the steel. I'm in the northwest though it may be cheaper.

Obviously it had to be plastered etc so there was additional costs for that

Ah super, thanks, I had £4k in my head so that’s prob around the right figure if I include southern uplift <sigh> and plastering.

I’ve just had the same done but including a chimney breast removal and it cost me just short of 8k. That was the cheapest quote.

We also did the same in 2015 in our old house and it was 3k!

About £2700 including structural survey, building g work and building regs

I'm in Yorkshire. Ours was £1,600

We’ve just had it done as part of a larger job and I think it was in the region of £4-5k. Our knockthrough and beam was about 14ft across, if that helps. We’re in the southwest.
