More Limescale in EnSuite Bathroom than Main Bathroom

Just that really. The ensuite loo has dreadful limescale and the tap seems to have limescale build up as well and needs scrubbing or water only comes out of a bit of it. It's quite a wide spout.

The main bathroom on the same floor is absolutely fine.

I have started using the ensuite loo at lot during the day rather than the main bathroom in case it was a case of it not being used as much but it hasn't made any difference.

Any ideas as to why this might be.

I don't know the answer, but I have exactly the same problem.

It's almost certainly due to usage.

Design might make a difference. For example some style of tap might hold a drip of water on the end more than another, or a different shower tray with a different tread pattern or installation angle might lead to less standing water. One shower or tap or toilet might drip more/leak water when not in use than another.

But usage is probably the dominant factor I would say.

I minimise limescale in my en suite shower by leaving as little standing water around as possible by using a window scraper to push it down the plughole. It really works and reduces the humidity in winter.

Well its comforting to know I am not alone. I would say that now I am definitely using the ensuite loo as often if not more than the main bathroom but maybe I am too late.

The loo is exactly the same type as in the main bathroom but the tap is different. Wide spout with a lot of little holes.

I would agree re use. A flat we rented, first floor toilet was brown with limescale buildup and slack cleaning, next floor, far less accessible, clean as a whistle. It was so bad I couldn’t get it clean (even tried two bottles of Coke overnight, twice).

Have you thought about getting a water softener system installed?
