Laminate (?) boards designed for walls (toilet/ kitchen)?

I posted in Home Decoration, then wondered if here might be best.

I’ve got two small toilets and a kitchen splashback that need work doing.

I don’t want tiles due to wanting to avoid grout problems. I’ve seen these large board panels in a few places and they seem ideal (like you get in wet rooms, but not shiny and bathroom like).

I wondered if anyone had any experience?

We have them in our shower and I love them. I'd definitely have them installed if we were redo our bathroom or kitchen

My sister got these in her bathroom last year -- the blokes installing them warned her against it at the time but she really loved the look of them. 14 months later there is mould behind and around them!

I’ve got Shower Walls in my shower and as a splashback for my bath. Had them in for about 2 years, find them easy to clean and they look lovely. They were relatively easy to fit too.

I’ve not had any indications of mould in the bathroom, but no idea what it looks like behind the boards!

We have showerwall with a matt photograph printed onto it. Looks spectacular. Has been up for years with no mould, I have no idea how anyone could get mould behind it unless it’s incompetently installed. It’s glued to the wall and has silicon around the edges.

SO much easier than tiles.

I have boards in my (newish) kitchen that are the same pattern as my worktop. The cupboard fronts and work tops and boards are all a similar colour tone so the look is co-ordinated and makes the room look so spacious.
Boards are so easy to clean. No dirty grout build up.

No mould in this house!
I’ll never have tiles again.

Our bathroom has them around the shower and bath, 7 years and no mould or pulling away from the walls. Use sealant down the joins to stop any water ingress.
The slate, stone or wood effect ones you can get nowadays are gorgeous, far easier than tiling too.

How do you clean your wet walls?

Yirk · 12/02/2024 16:16

I use my karcher!

Unfortunately don’t have one of those!
