Mortgage for contract work is it possible?

Good Evening, I have been working agency and contract work my whole working life. I have started a contract job back in February 2023 I get paid weekly so I should have 6 months payslip (24 weeks) in about 2 weeks time. I want to apply for a mortgage for around £120k. With contract work you do not get paid for bank holidays or sick days. Excluding the 8 bank holidays a year where I do not get paid the salary before tax is around £42,000 a year. My job previously I was earning very little. I can provide up to 1 year bank statements and I have no debt or loans at the moment except student finance which I guess everyone has. Never had a credit card or paid a bill late.

My question is will banks lend to me? I have heard if you are not full time it is harder to get accepted for a mortgage. My job you get extended every 5-6 months. So I did get a recent extension until end of December 2023.

Age is not an issue soon to be 30.

You would be best off speaking to a mortgage broker. Banks do have policies in place for your scenario but you will need to provide more documentation than if you were employed full time
