I’m currently living in a 2 bedroom house with housing association in not the best of areas in a overcrowded situation with one toilet in the bathroom so nightmare with everyone wanting to use toilet especially when your in the bath. Theres me my husband and my three children ages 4 9 16 I had to give my eldest daughter my bedroom so I have been sleeping in my front room for 4 years not ideal but had to put her first! I recently bidded on a really nice three bedroom flat affordable housing with housing association in kidbrooke village really nice new development lots to do there with the kids lots of parks which I haven’t got where I’m currently living and it’s lovely flat with my own room finally and two toilets and large balcony. But can’t help but think maybe should have waited an extra year or two to bid on a house but the wait was becoming unbearable waiting now for 6 years cramped and the area is much better! Would you have waited an extra couple of years for house or took the flat in nice better area???

It’s really nice I can see Peglar square and the main entrance to the train station from my balcony which is a bonus the court yard is lovely lit up at night water fountains are so a lovely touch I come out of my house and I’m faced with people taking drugs outside under the underpath don’t even feel safe walking to the shop

Sounds like a good decision. It looks like a nice development.

In your circumstances grab it with both hands!

Yeh! Go for it!

Tidsleytiddy · 13/07/2023 12:40

Where are you currently?

There's no competition between Thamesmead and Kidbrooke - Kidbrooke wins hands down and transport is better.

The leisure centre at Sutcliffe Park has some good activities for kids and there's an athletics centre too plus skate park, football clubs etc. it's really changed from the Ferrier estate days. The only thing to watch out for really is noise nuisance in a flat.

I know where you live now and I know where you are moving too and I'm telling you that you will not regret it. Kidbrooke village is lovely. You're close to Greenwich, blackheath, Blackwall tunnel, A2. And it suits your needs now. Good luck to you OP

yes when I went to view the flat I took my kids to the rock climbing play area inside the sports centre they had a great time!

Sounds like you will be happier in the new place then and does sound better than where you are. (Can understand why you would struggle to get a swap from thamesmead)

Sounds fab 👍

Go for it OP! I live nearby and looked at Kidbrooke Village when buying but they were too far out of our price range, so if you've been offered it as part of your housing association then I wouldn't hesitate. It's lovely there!

Nicer area, every time.

I prefer living in a flat all on one level to a small house. My last home was what I thought was my ideal - a pretty Victorian terrace with a garden. We’ve moved into a flat with bigger rooms but a tiny patio. It just feels like we make much better use of the space and have the room to do our own thing but still be sociable.

Hi yeah I totally get that! My new place has a bigger open plan kitchen so feels more social can still watch the tele as I’m cooking dinner!! Lol
