Ways to secure outdoor furniture on a balcony?

Hi, I’m just wondering if anyone has any ideas here? I can bring the lighter, less bulky furniture inside on my own, but would have a hard time with anything bigger than that. I recently purchased an egg chair swing, which is on the corner of the balcony. I live in Greece, so we don’t have as much when does the UK, but on the occasion we do, for example last night, it gets very very windy and things can go flying. I came out in the middle of the night to sit on the egg chair, partly to enjoy the nice breeze, but also to keep the chair in place. I am visually impaired, so try to keep things easy but also I don’t want things to blow away since I may have a hard time finding them , and I don’t want some thing falling over the edge of the balcony. I brought the plants inside, thankfully, but found one chair I had traveled about 20 feet, around the balcony. I live in a penthouse so it is a wraparound, very big balcony . This is my own home, but I think if I were to build some thing onto the balcony I would need to ask for planning permission, and I’m not sure how easy this would be to get. I had thought of building some thing on the balcony that is an enclosed space so I can just put my outdoor furniture there, but still have the light come in if that makes sense. Other than that though, I’m not sure how to secure bigger pieces of furniture. I do have an awning on one side of the balcony, but I will have to replace it since I find it leaks slightly. I have only owned this home since March so I’m still trying to buy the furniture I want and put things like awnings on the balcony.

Depends on what the floor of your balcony is made of.

My gut reaction to "I need something not to move" is to drill holes through and bolt it down.

For a temporary measures in high winds, I'd just buy some decent ratchet straps and strap everything down.

As it's a balcony I'd be tempted to buy a 3m square cargo net, throw that over everything which needs to stay in place and strap that down.

OK, thank you, I have no idea where to buy those things in Greece… But I will ask around.

I think the suggestions above are very sensible. I'd probably do similar or move things into a sheltered corner and weight them down if I couldn't do that.

In the UK I would expect to get rachet straps from Screwfix or similar I think (or eBay or AliExpress (selected extremely carefully))

Do you need to be able to fit whatever mechanism you go for yourself/are there any other limitations in terms of options?

It might also be worth asking the neighbours what they do?

Augend I might have to ask a handyman to come and do jobs like moving things or tying things down, I’m not sure how to go about this just yet. I will ask one of my neighbors, when I see her… She has a lot of flowers and plants on her balcony, I know she has a covering though.
