Chalet Bed Headboard space

We have just moved to a chalet bungalow and are looking for a divan bed with headboard for the “loft bedroom” which has the typical sloped roof starting 118 cms from the floor.

It is a good sized bedroom, and the only wall the bed head can sensibly be placed against gives much less headroom then the headboard needs.

All the divan beds with headboards seem to be a standard height of about 135 cms whether the board is free standing or has struts attached to the bed.

What is the normal configuration for this type of bed?

I would cut a headboard down so that it is the right size and upholster it yourself. Upholstering a headboard is relatively easy. Just need a staple gun and some fabric.

I have kept an eye on this thread as we are in the same situation, or will be soon. I agree with Geneticsbunny about diy on a headboard. We have made footstools etc using a staple gun (pneumatic - quicker!) It is quite easy once you get the hang of it. I have also seen special cushions, eg in leather, that hang behind the head of the bed. You could screw a solid bespoke headboard on the wall, too.

In our situation we are considering building in some storage behind the bed head, accessible from either side, to bring the bed forward into the room a bit. We will have about 113cm height but plenty of floor space.

That is brilliant!

we Bought headboard panels from Etsy and pinned them to our sloping wall. There’s lots to choose from and you can specify the height you want them at
