HELP! Paint peeled off the wall

Help!
So had to pull out some dodgy caulking, and in doing so it pulled off a bunch of paint in the process, back to the plaster 😭
I've been sanding it like mad but it doesn't seem to be smoothing out, in fact even more paint is peeling off. You can feel an obvious dip when you run your finger over the layers of paint.

What do I do in this situation?? Getting pretty desperate after endless sanding. My first though is maybe putting some polyfilla over the dip, sanding that down to a smooth point then painting over it all?

Fyi the grey paint is bin primer, which I originally painted over the dodgy caulking.

I like Toupret fine surface filler , I think, you could use that or similar over the edges successfully.

OP! I know this pain! I used Zinnser Peel Stop applied with a brush and also only applied paint over the affected area with a brush rather than a roller.

If you want to smooth it out I suggest putting the peel stop over first, really gently apply a thin layer of polyfilla/surface filler, and then possibly apply peel stop again.

peel stop does show up very slightly under the paint (mildly shiny) but it’s better than sanding the whole wall down and repainting the whole thing (I attempted this, it was going to take hours upon hours…!). Good luck!

OP,
I feel your pain, as in similar situation. I have favoured kitchen and bathroom paint for obvious reasons, but using it twice in succession unknowingly dumped me in a right mess. I've had to strip the entire bathroom as the paint has peeled, with the second coat just hovering on top of the first. If you can afford it, get professional help!!

I've got a pot of Ronseal smooth finish hanging around, do you reckon that would do the job?

@Northby Good idea for the Peel stop, as the paint generally isn't peeling maybe it'll be okay just underneath the filler? It's only come off because of the stupid caulking!

Thanks for all the advice everybody. Bloomin nightmare!

How old is the property? We had problems with this due to the original Lime Plaster, the solution we found was a sandpaper back to the plaster, wash the wall well, then water down the emulsion for first coat, and then repaint. No problems ever since.

Second watering down paint. I think you're meant to do that on bare plaster? A couple of coats of that then paint as usual.

A friend of mine has this - she repainted her kitchen and it started to peel. Once it had started, of course her kids decided to help!
She ended up peeling the lot off and starting again.

We already mist coated the plaster so it is definitely weird this is happening, I think the caulk has supersonic pulling abilities!

Help - I have to paint over my bathroom wall. It was bare plaster seven years ago, I did a half coat white emulsion then a single coat yellow bathroom paint.
Now I want to repaint in dark blue - what paint shall I use? It's not in a wet bit, but will get steamy.
Thank you!

@Helpwhatwouldyoudonext trust me, don't put another layer of kitchen and bathroom paint over the top without sanding the yellow down first.
