Dodgy lock on front door

Hi, just got the keys to new house. The lock on the front door is very tricky to use. It never locks or unlocks straight away, needs fiddling.

What kind of person would I need to fix this? A new lock or a new door or someone to mend it?

The survey said it is a multi lever (?) lock and its a pvc door.

I had a locksmith to replace the rail on a UPVC door.
It was just the lock that was replaced.

It could be as simple as just needing the barrel changing. Which is £10-40 for the part and can be changed yourself.

Or you could just get a locksmith around and spend between £100-200 and have it sorted.

Thank you both! A local locksmith came out. He needs to repair and rehang the door and change the barrel, and he's doing the back door too.

If you want what is probably the best euro cylinder lock around, ask your locksmith about the ABLOY Protec2 or Novel series

I see you have already found someone but my suggestion was going to be try spraying some WD40 into the lock and move your key backwards/forwards. Sometimes a little bit of grit/dirt finds its way in and it just needs a smidgen of oil.

@INeedAnotherName WD40 is terrible for locks and just causes more dirt and grime to stick in them.

Graphite lock spray is what you should be using, never WD40

I've personally never found that to be true (either myself or people/tradespeople I know), but accept that there might be a better product out there.
