New bathroom - how much?

MummaT86 · 04/07/2023 16:00

Looking at getting our bathroom and en-suite re-done. No idea of how much this will cost. Not looking to go high end but not bottom of the range either so something middle of the road probably.

Has anyone recently had their bathroom/en suite refitted/tiled etc? En-suite would be sink, shower and toilet and bathroom would be bath with shower over, toilet and sink.

Any idea of rough cost and what it includes would be a great help so I don't visibly gasp when I ask for quotes!

Have done both in past year. It was about 9k for both, labour and all fixtures and fitting.

Bloomingbloms · 04/07/2023 16:02

The labour was £6800 of that. Just checked. £4 for fanily bathroom and £2800 for en-suite. Both partially tiles. Probably a bit of a discount for doing both.

Doing mine now in west London - they quoted 4300 for their labour, then it is about another 3500 for what we supplied (loo, basin, radiator, new electric shower, paint and flooring).

It's a small 2 bedroom flat, btw.

Following! Will need to do the same in our house soon.

Just had my middle bathroom redone, complete rip out and redo. It cost £9,400. Middle range choices except some expensive wet wall boarding around the shower.

Jemimapuddleduk · 04/07/2023 16:31

Around £9/£10k en suite and £13k-£15k for a larger bathroom.

We're having our bathroom done at the moment. It's a good size bathroom and we chose expensive tiles, a fancy heated towel rail and good quality brands. Labour is £5.5k, tiles are about £1.2k and the bathroom stuff itself about £4.5k. This was for a shower, separate bath, sink, toilet and various cupboards.

We've just turned a bedroom into a bathroom for £11k including drawings, knocking through a wall, new soil pipe dug in, levelling the floor, stud walls, lowered ceiling, UFH, plastering, plumbing, electrics etc. A straight rip out and refit would have been a few k less. Doing a rip out + refit on the old bathroom and expecting it to be around £7k using the same fitter and bathroom supplier (bathroom mountain for suite, Al Murad for tiles)

We had our tiny bathroom done last month (it’s roughly 2m x 2m in size) - ripped out the entire room back to brick and had shower, sink and toilet fitted and wet walls over the whole room. It cost £6,900.

Thank you everyone, that's a great help and insight Smile

is having PVC cladding cheaper than fully tilled? I’m tired of grotty grouting.

catherinewales · 04/07/2023 23:55

We've just had our bathrooms done with pvc cladding. 1 cost £4500 and other cost £6000. The more expensive one was for a full bathroom fit (the room only had a bath in it) and to extend it. The cheaper bathroom was changed from a bath with shower over head sink and toilet to walk in shower sink and toilet. The more expensive one was bath with shower over sink and toilet. Both had spotlights fitted too. We're in the northwest.

I had shower room done quite a while ago, so probably no point giving the price given how things are today!

I went a slightly different route. Had aqua panels in the shower enclosure - no more bloody grout to clean. The rest of the room I had the bottom half panelled and the top half plain wall. Both painted in good quality, appropriate paint. This means that, if I get bored, it’s really easy to update the room by just choosing different coloured (good quality) paint. I don’t think I’d ever have tiles again.

My bathroom is almost the same, though done before I got here.
