Leicester advice

Hi,

Planning a move, and scouting out different areas...

I'm hoping to attend DMU at some point, and don't want a long commute.

I've heard Enderby is pretty rough so will avoid.

I'm looking at Anstey and Quorn, but worried they're too far out. Looked at Syston recently but not sure.
Merton Ave looks nice. I used to have friends near Braunstone.

Any advice would be great.

Also looking at secondaries.

Oadby & Stoneycroft, Loughborough-the Forest Road side. Woodhouse Eaves. Lots of lovely villages between Market Harborough and the East of Leicester A47 too

Renting or buying ?

Anstey and Quorn both lovely but Quorn very pricey. I guess it depends on your budget. Braunstone historically very rough. Rawlins secondary school in Quorn generally considered ok.

Yes woodhouse Eaves is lovely and lots of nice places to visit / walk around there. pricey though. Can you give us any idea of budget op if buying. Just something to consider if looking at North leicester, in recent months has been a nightmare to get into Leicester city but may be temporary.

Do not move to syston or braunstone 😂😂

Rough as hell especially braunstone (I've lived in both)

Budget? These are very different in prices! Quorn is lovely but £££. Se of city is nicer (stoneygate, Knighton) oadby beyond is nice. Parts of aylestone but if they aren't in budget then you'll need to look at cheaper neighbourhoods

We live in Wigston meadows, it’s a nice quiet area and easy drive/bus routes into town/DMU campus

NCembarassed · 22/06/2023 23:26

Looking to buy. Budget ideally £210k. Might be able to do £250k.

I think you can safely rule out Quorn or Anstey then.

Woodhouse Eaves is too far from the city, for a sensible commute. Anstey is a good choice, it retains a nice village feel.
