Kitchen island for a dummy

Hi, I'm hoping for some advice. We have a kitchen diner that was extended and I want to add an island in there, how do I go about this ??
I'm not interested in approaching wren or anything like that for it, the original kitchen we got from DIY so I would like to use them again.
Can you just add an island ? How does it work? Is it simply base units with a worktop on ??

Approach the company you want then and ask.

it’s not as simple as adding in the units due to flooring-our flooring was done AFTER the kitchen was in situ so was cut in around the units. Am assuming you don’t want a sink or anything on the island and it’s just as pictured? As obviously if you wanted a sink/electrics that would be more tricky. Do you have spare flooring to replace/cut in?

Yes nothing on the island as it would just end up being a nightmare ! I just want rid of the old dining table and something more modern to really set the kitchen off.
Could we not just put it on top of the flooring ? Does it have to be screwed down I take it ?
The flooring is just some tile affect laminate.
I think we do have a few spare planks

We have laminate floor and just added the island afterwards. We have a drawer unit that was put on top of the laminate with an overhand on three sides so that forms our main dining table, and then mastik was put around the base to stop liquid or crumbs going under the sides.

We are in a new build, so we looked for a kitchen installer company who was associated with our make of kitchen. They installed the drawers and also put additional cabinets against an empty wall of our kitchen. The sales rep for our builder told us who supplied our original work top and we approached them to install the kitchen island top and the additional work top.

It was very straightforward. Although the island isn't bolted down, it isn't going anywhere. The drawer pack is heavy and the worktop is very heavy.

There are guides on line for spacing around an island to make sure it is safe for people to cook and comfortable for people to get around. Also check your worktop type to make sure any overhang is adequately supported. We have silestone and the maximum overhang we could have without needing additional bracing was 12".

Thank you !!
I've just rang DIY kitchens. They said it can be installed over laminate not a problem, but to be honest we need the lounge floor replacing and it's all open plan so I might just get the whole lot done first and get the island installed after.
