How to get rid of mould on internal walls?

The panelling underneath my bay window has been taken off and it turns out there is mould behind it. (Water has been getting in and I’m having the window frames repainted and sealed to prevent more water ingress.) What’s the best way to kill the mould on the walls behind the panelling? Ideally I’d like to avoid bleach as I’m allergic to it. Does anyone know whether vinegar would work well? From my googling it sounds like it might!

Very grateful for any advice on this!

Dettol do a specific anti-mould spray- It's worked where I have used it, and it was recommended to me by a landlady who said it was the only thing in her experience that didn't just get rid of it, but stopped it coming back. I used it on a wall behind cupboards in a friend's house recently- there were spots of black mould on a wall behind some furniture that hadn't been moved away from the wall in decades. It completely got rid of it on the (painted) plaster and the skirtings, on a light coloured wall. The worst spots I did spray twice, and they took a little longer to disappear, but they did- the wall was pristine when it was done, all in, it took only about a quarter of an hour. But you might need to get someone to do it for you if you have allergies, it's nasty stuff. Lots of ventilation and wearing rubber gloves would be required, and always follow the instructions on the bottle.

I used bicarb and white vinegar paste - scrubbed and left and scrubbed again, then treated with tea tree solution spray.
Actually worked really well!

Lived in rented housing and it had a mahoosive mould problem. White vinegar was the only thing to keep it under control for us. Do not use bleach! It hides it rather than stops it.

I'd spray a solution of vinegar on the walls, wait about a hour and then wipe away with water.

Scrub with soap and water.

Rinse with vinegar liberally. Just cheap stuff from the bottom shelf of the supermarket. Not malt. Vinegar kills mould.

Leave to air as long as possible. Repeat with the vinegar if you are leaving it open for a while.

Hey if it’s behind a panel, it probably isn’t water ingress it’s probably interstitial condensation.

you need to look at re building the area creating a “cold roof” scenario with the outside ventilated and the inside insulated.

it’s quite technical to get it right. You’ll need a good builder who understands what’s happening.
