Kitchen Sink Query

We have 2 options when getting new kitchen.
First is 2 separate bowls, 2 cutouts, so there is continuation of worktop between the bowls.
Or 1 bowl, 1 cutout, so there is no worktop 'ridge' between both.
Feel like 2 cutouts would maybe look better, but not sure how functional it would be.
I've selected the 2 cutouts, but now 2nd guessing myself, and wondering if I should contact the kitchen guy and get it changed to a single cutout.
Appreciate any thoughts!

I've just had mine done. The sink overlaps the edge of the cutout unlike yours which fits underneath. That means the cutout does not have to be finished on the inside.

Yours looks expensive, because they would have to manufacture the worktop to match the sink rather than just cut out the hole and drop the sink in it.

Is the extra cost worth it ? I don't know.

Re the two styles, the left hand one has a practical benefit. I can't see whether the small bowl has an overflow, but if it doesn't then in the LHS one if the tap is left on and the small bowl fills up the water will go into the large bowl and down the overflow rather than all over the kitchen floor.

If you are lifting stuff from the large to the small bowl a lot I guess you may scratch the worktop in between, but unlikely to do much as not many people use their sinks much these days.

I would not order that style and I don't like the tap position on the LHS pic. If you decide to go for overlay worktops in 10 years time the tap position might make it more awkward. Not everyone thinks or wants to think that far ahead though :)

The two cut outs will certainly look more expensive classy.

What are your reservations? The look? The cost? Something else?

Personally I would go for the option you have chosen.

Reservations are around the functionality- ie if running water and moving tap quickly from one to the other, having some run off - and it has no where to go.

Just conscious about having to turn off tap if moving between bowls.

Maybe it wouldn't be an issue, and maybe I am overthinking it!

I have a granite worktop and my sink is like the first photo. The stainless steel dividing the two sinks gets water marked/scale stains quite easily and I have to rub quite hard to eradicate them.

Just a pointer to consider if you go for the second option - the material may not take kindly to having to rub/scrub so frequently.

Ah yes I see what you mean.

To be honest I think you'll have the same problems with either option, so I would just go for the one that you like the look of the most.
