Does your house have a build over agreement? What is it like to live with one?

We're looking to buy a house and it has a build over agreement for a public sewer pipe under the extension.

We've never lived in a property that had a pipe go across the property, moreover with a build over agreement.

So I'm looking for any experiences. Good or bad?
Is it fairly common and a non issue or has it proven to be a pain?

It’s incredibly common. It’s basically just a way for the sewerage undertaker to make money when people build over or near their assets. They will have protected the pipe within the construction and possibly moved any inspection chambers from the inside to the outside.

That's really reassuring thank you!
It's so new to me I wasn't sure how every day or walk away this was.

We have this also. It's incredibly common.

Is there 'easy' access to it?
We've got one that has the same. Keeping everything crossed it's never needing to be accessed.

I'm not sure on easy access but it's something we've asked both the solicitor to make enquiries about and asked the surveyor to have a look at specifically as well. Fingers crossed....

Thank you everyone - it seems like it's a lot more common than I realised.
