Any ideas?!

Wonder if anyone has any ideas on this please?

In the process of purchasing house. About to sign contracts. It's a private road with a committee.

Property has no driveway, cars are OK to park on road. However, have a small unbranded plain VW work van (the blue old BT van) and Committee say no vans to be parked on road. Verbally told by sellers and estate agent that would be ok to park van in front of garage.

However on asking for this in writing deeds says cars cannot be parked in front of garage. So at a bit of a loss as to what to do. Have emailed the committee and given an outright 'No'.

At the moment the only option looks to be to pull out of the sale which ie absolutely gutting! Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts or ideas o this as seems incredibly petty when it's a small van with no branding - could understand if it was a big transit van with signage, but this van no bigger than the average SUV!

Thanks in advance!

Well if you can’t park it and don’t have any where else then you need to pull out.

Blimey. Are they going to insist you keep your grass at precisely one inch and tell you off for planting the wrong kind of flowers?

Tbh I would in no way want to live on a street where a committee gets to dictate my life choices. It smacks of that terrible American residents committee on American Housewives. Nope!

But, back to your issue.

Could you rent a space on a nearby road's drive?

Could you switch the van for something that is technically considered a car but still gives you the space you need from a van?

If you chose the second option, please paint it neon colours and pimp it up and make it a real eyesore, cheers :)

You have asked, they have answered.

Im not sure how they would enforce this ( unless they have insurance on the road which would be quite likely) , but it’s not going to be very nice living somewhere where you are knowingly breaking the rules in the sale agreement. Tutting will be the least of it.

Who does the garage belong to? Does the van fit inside, rather than parking outside?
