Too much cream?

We are going to replace our kitchen floor soon and managed to get an amazing deal on these tiles, which were exactly the sort of thing we were going for (natural stone sort of look). I like bright spaces and warm-neutral tones, but I'm not sure if cream doors + cream tiles would be too much cream?? We don't tend to follow trends and would never go for a grey/navy/shiny sort of kitchen, as that isn't what we like. I know the kitchen itself is quite dated and cheap (including the blue wall!), but apart from the existing floor we really like it and don't want to replace anything else at the moment. So I'm looking for a more objective opinion on whether these new tiles would look ok? Would be grateful for opinions Smile

I am far from an arbiter of taste but I love those tiles with your kitchen!

WaitingForSunnyDays · 08/06/2023 13:34

I like them!

Fifi80 · 08/06/2023 15:36

I think it terms of look, in my uneducated opinio, it would look great. However, I’d also consider everyday practicality. White tiles will show every spec of dirty on the floor and for such high traffic area this probably means a constant up keeping.

kafkascastle · 08/06/2023 15:38

I think the kitchen will look too clinical. I put a white floor in my bathroom once and it was a disaster. Showed up every speck of dirt and it looked like a hospital bathroom.

Barnella · 08/06/2023 15:40

Looks great- I like the cream with the blue wall. Not clinical at all IMO.

maddiemookins16mum · 08/06/2023 16:00

I was really hoping this would involve scones and jam.

Neilsfavouritechilli · 08/06/2023 16:06

I think the new tiles will fit in well and look good. I've got cream units and darker wood in my kitchen and I think a cream floor would really lighten it up (I'm also partial to a spot of bold in accessories which keeps things perky)

Honeyroar · 08/06/2023 22:32

I prefer the old ones, sorry.

echt · 09/06/2023 00:02

The old ones are better simply because the pale ones will only look clean for a nano-second after you mop.

CarolinaInTheMorning · 09/06/2023 00:22

I like the way they look, OP, but speaking from personal experience, they will be a chore to keep looking clean. We do have dogs, though, don't know what I was thinking.

TilesAway · 10/06/2023 08:01

Thanks for all of your opinions, largely what I wanted to hear :)
And thank you for the warning about cleaning. I'm going for it, but can't say nobody told me!

The cream tiles are lovely but I'd like to ask about your kettle Smile What kind is it and where did you get it from please?

JeandeServiette · 10/06/2023 08:49

I think the tiles are fine but if you changed the pale blue paint for something darker than the two creams (and maybe a more neutral/ natural shade like khaki, stone or sage) it would really elevate the whole look.

80sMum · 10/06/2023 08:52

The new ones will be fine, providing you use a dark grout. Whatever you do, don't be tempted to use a pale coloured grout because you'll never be able to get it to look clean.

Roselilly36 · 10/06/2023 08:53

They look lovely, but, I have cream tiles, they do show up the dirt, get yourself a good steam mop OP.

twizzlesx · 10/06/2023 08:55

I think they look really nice and I don't think your kitchen looks dated or cheap at all. Agree that painting the blue wall a sage / pistachio colour would look great

Isthisblocked · 10/06/2023 09:01

I think your kitchen is lovely and those tiles would go so very well. Don’t worry about it being a little bit bland because you can add colour with all kinds of other things. My kitchen is exclusively creams and whites but very colourful and warm with lots of plants and pictures. I’m seconding @twizzlesx with a soft sage green for that painted wall…. In fact you are making me wonder if I should go for that colour myself because I do have a decorator here quite soon….

NellyBarney · 10/06/2023 09:09

Lovely. Please don't be tempted to use a stark dark grey grout. Go for something softer like a soft beige/greige to pick up on the marbling or even cream and make the grout fade into the background rather than stand out. Light tiles are easier to keep clean than glossy black or terracotta, as they don't show up water marks.

Thanks again everyone, some good tips and food for thought.

@Lessoftheold visitors always comment on the kettle! My husband thinks it's silly but I love it. We don't have much worktop space so went for a hob one. Here it is:
