What colour for both facing room

We’re just about to get our living room repainted, first one we’re paying to have done professionally as we just don’t have the time.

It’s quite big and is north facing so doesn’t get a massive amount of natural light. We had a wood burner installed and have purple velvet sofas so looking for something that will go with the sofas! Floor is wood effect LVT so very neutral. Any suggestions from
people who have more interior design knowledge?

Picture of colour of sofa/chair. The dado rail is coming off - finally!

It sounds like you need a light colour with a blue undertone that still has some warmth in it. How about a shade of white that has a touch of pink, or a dusky pink?

Definitely try out testers first, as northern light can make colours appear darker, greyer or more mauve than you’d expect.

That looks like quite a warm purple. A sagey / olivey green would work or a pale version of either. I would definitely go for something with a warm undertone in a north facing room.

We have a fully north facing living room, finding the right colour has been a nightmare, repainted it four times in 3 years. We have settled on Canvas from Graham and Brown, it's light, neutral but warm in the cold light and have paired it with darker furniture and wood tones and our sofa has throw that has purple tones

Northern light is blue, so you will need to embrace that. Purple already contains blue, so should easily harmonise with a paint colour with blue undertones. Buy a handful of taster pots and choose one that looks soothing and calm rather than harsh and cold (grayish light blue could work very well, like aerial tint by Edward Bulmer or Flax Blue by Neptune, or just an off white with a bluish undertone, F&B has several, like school house white or wevet).
