Hi all,
Im looking to move with my 3 children back to the greater Manchester area.
I just wanted to know what the heatons are like for young families?
The houses are stunning, some real beautiful Edwardian/Victorian gems and the state schools look very good.
What's the best area with regards to younger children, high street vibe, parks etc?
Thanks in advance

Only just seen this post, I live in the Heatons and would definitely recommend it, good schools, lovely restaurants and coffee houses, nice parks, and an independent cinema!

Brilliant thank you for coming back to me.

I'm looking at two houses at the moment, one at the top of the moor and one nearer the bottom not from cork of the town.

The schools all look to be excellent too. I've recently heard priestnall is being taken over by the laurus trust too

We’ve just bought in levenshulme and go to the heatons regularly to go out for dinner, shopping, etc as there’s lots of great independents. It’s a lovely area - we see lots of families when we’re out and about so it seems quite family friendly. We would have bought there but our budget wasn’t big enough for the space we wanted!

@Primrosehill82 Heaton Mersey and Moor are the best and some parts of Chapel are lovely (the bits bordering Moor). Heaton Norris isn’t as nice. The cafes/bars/restaurants/shops along Heaton Moor Rd and Shaw Rd are great and it has a lovely atmosphere. When we lived there we ate out in Heaton Moor much more than going into Manchester.

We moved away from the area now but whenever we go back to visit friends and spend time in the parks, everyone knows each other which is lovely. You’ve also got Mersey Common or the walk along the river Mersey.

My friend’s DCs loved Didsbury Rd primary but have hated Priestnall (wished they’d gone to Parrswood) but hopefully things will improve once it’s taken over. You’ve also got the tram in East Didsbury which is in walking distance.
