Hi all
We are London based FTB. We have just had an offer accepted on a London property 10 days ago. While we are very happy with the outcome we are not sure on the next steps.
We have just been informed that our vendor has had an offer accepted in Scotland where he is looking to move. I am not clear on how the house buying process works in Scotland versus England and therefore, confused on what to do next.
Previously we had provided the EA with the name of our solicitor. However, I had told my solicitor not to start any work until chain is complete.
Now that the vendor has had his offer accepted in Scotland should I start the conveyancing process or should I wait to confirm if there is no onward chain in his Scotland purchase?
Also, I am currently renting a flat that has a 2 month notice requirement. When I am dealing with 2 different conveyancing systems what is the best time to give notice on my rental property. Once I have given the notice, could my vendor withdraw from sale for any reason effectively forcing me to either extend my stay in current rental or find a new rental.
Alternatively, is it a wise idea to schedule completion 2 months after exchange so that it matches my rental notice period?
Thanks
