Bigger island or dining table

Help please. We've just had an extension for a kitchen diner and because we want an American fridge freezer it leave us a bit limited for space on where the dining table was going to start. The kitchen man has suggested we just have a bigger island with like 6 stools around instead of a dining table.
Thoughts please?
I think my biggest concern is for Christmas day, but then I suppose we could get a temporary table. Any thoughts?

If you are going to stick with the fridge/freezer, have a look at larder-style. The fridge is the full width of the top half. The freezer is the bottom half and comes in a few configurations. Mine is double doors with thee drawers on each side - makes it easy to sort and find stuff (drawer for veg, drawer for fresh meat, drawer for batched cooking, etc).

Dishing table over large island, an island is ok to perch at bit eat a proper meal at. Ideally both but if space doesn’t allow than table. I always loved an American fridge freezer and had one in previous house for many years, however have just put In a new kitchen after moving and after much deliberation put in an integrated freezer and separate integrated freezer. Much more storage space than you get in an American fridge freezer. I did have a fancy cold water boiling hot water tap installed as I would have missed cold water dispenser from American Fridge, filling a jug for the fridge each time isn’t for me. Our freezer is bigger than American fridge freezer so I just store bags of ice as I did miss the ice dispenser, but you can get freezers that make ice too I believe. Integrated is smarter looking that free standing fridge freezers (even American ones).

Totally agree - we did the same, dining table that can extend to 12, love it as we host a lot and it's very practical

Table every time. We have both and only my youngest son sits at the island, and even then its once in a blue moon. I'm also extending my kitchen and wont be having an island because I much prefer the open plan feel without it.
