Decent-sized new builds close to facilities?

Anyone know of any new build homes (1000 sq ft plus), with facilities (convenience store, post office) in walking distance? We're looking to move from a city to a market town but in spite of home builders choosing to use 'eco friendly' products and mod cons, none of them seem to consider those of us who choose not to have a car. So many lovely homes and all on the very outskirts of towns with no facilities in sight.

There seem to be a few in Lytham area, where they filled in a brown field site.

Grove in Wantage, just bought the 4 bed "Corsair" - Persommon. Fantastic area

Faringdon - Oxfordshire (^not far from Wantage either) quite a few new developments but the Bloor homes development in particular is very close to shops and good bus links, up to every 20 mins to Oxford and Swindon.

Perhaps you need to look for ones that have bus stops to towns within walking distance.

You can walk into town from the new ones in Cowbridge, South Wales. Only supermarket is a Waitrose though. I’m also aware you can walk into Inverurie in Aberdeenshire from the new developments.

Any more guidance on the location you want? Or you just want a market town? Or to start a general conversation.

Royston, Hertfordshire.

Horsford, Norfolk.

I’m sure there’s plenty more - these are just two I know.

Not sure how big the houses will be but there's a Passivhaus development on Burton Stone Lane in York (ok, bit bigger than a market town!). Easy walking distance to the city centre - about 15 mins and has convenience stores within 5 mins.

Choose a town, then look on the relevant local authority website for the planning portal (view planning applications), search in the map for developments over the last 2 to 5 years and it should pull up all the housing developments. Then you can search on housing developer websites for specific locations.

Royston as previously mentioned and Cambridge area - generally good active travel links. Ditto Norwich.

Wimborne Dorset. Lots of new builds close to the town centre.

Barratt homes development in Beeston Rylands in Nottinghamshire - smaller shops a few mins away, 10 mins walk to town centre, buses running past and also right next to the railway line to get to Nottingham or Derby (or further afield).

What sort of house are you looking for?
I've just looked at the 4 newbuild sites round me, that are all 10 mins walk from a post office/tesco/pharmacy, and 30 mins walk to a market town center.
All the 4 bed houses will be way over 1000sq ft.
Do you need to increase the bedroom size by 1 to get what you are after?
