I am planning to purchase a house is london. Everything of this house looks good except that the garden is north facing and the living space is at the rear so am afraid both garden and living space will not get sunlight. I am planning on purchasing house no. 88..Can someone please suggest whether I should go for it or not?

My garden is south facing and my living room is north facing. This is perfect for me. I love sitting in my sunny garden but my living room stays lovely and cool so is a welcome relief from the heat. Also no horrible glare on the TV. For me a north facing garden would rule out the house.

I don’t mind my north-facing garden but I do hate my south-facing sitting room and bedroom!

It's only May and my south facing garden is like an oven now. I can dry thick jeans/towels in a couple of hours it's so hot but there is nowhere to sit in the shade, you certainly couldn't let Children play out there and any kind of gardening is impossible. It's too hot even for our dog who is kipping on the stone kitchen floor and she LOVES warmth.

I have a small north facing space - it gets little sun - it’s just a patch of weeds (we have good drainage so least it’s not a mud pit)

We also have space south facing - I’m not a lover of the sun but it’s far nice. The north side rooms always feel cold and dark (great on the rare warm days) but that’s it.

Bad, unless it’s long enough to have a big patch out of the shadow of your house, and nothing blocking it from the sun in the west.

I have a north facing garden in a terrace. It gets sun most if the day - one sitting dd in the morning, then middle in the middle of the day, end of day the other side. I have skylights in my extension so it's always bright, and really happy it doesn't face south as I've had that snd it was baking in the summer and faded my curtains and rugs.
In the winter time no direct sun. But still bright. No regrets.

We are in a mid terraced 3 storey townhouse and it’s a small north west facing garden. I will be honest and did worry that I would be disappointed losing my large west facing garden (we moved to gain more bedrooms, space and bathrooms)
I’ve been pleasantly surprised. The bottom of the garden gets the early sun and then it moved round so from lunchtime until early evening almost all of the patio area next to the house gets lots of sunshine.

there is an area on the left hand fence that is almost always shaded but that’s handy on the scorching days when you want some shade.
I have a small lawn and low maintenance borders but potted plants and flowers which seem to be doing well.

depends what your priorities are. I’m happy with my garden, also means the lounge (at the rear) stays cooler and the kitchen at the front gets some nice sunshine most of the day
