Tap won't secure against unit -is Pigletjohn here ?

Can anyone shed any light on a solution. We have a small drinking water tap that was replaced. We have a really awkward large rectangular sink so access to the hole and the parts in really difficult.

We keep finding the nut to secure the tap to the work top (underneath) comes loose and then the tap just moves about.

Does anyone have a solution for securing it? I'm having to tighten it weekly but am obviously not doing it enough.

@Pigletjohn have any ideas ? Or anyone else ...

What are you using to tighten it? There are special tap spanner things that help, if the issue is you can't tighten it enough, due to the tight location. They're like a tube that fits over the nut.

There is a product called Loc-tite which is a sort of 'glue' you paint on the threads ... once it dries you will have a devil of a time removing the nut.

As above Loc-tite on the thread, also a smear of Fix-all under the underside of the tap where it sits on the worktop (it's a sealant and adhesive).
Otherwise if it has a half moon type clamp on the underside check it seated correctly and not slipping into the hole in the worktop so it's only clamping on one side.
Likewise if the hole is slightly oversize a flanged nut can easily slip if the tap isn't central and may need an oversize washer.

Both clamp and flanged nut types need to clamp over their whole circumference for it to stay secure no matter how much you tighten it.

Thankyou for those ideas
It's problematic as I can't actually see how it's a fixed
Will see if I can get some photos and perhaps try the fix it

I've got a long but tightener and that was impossible to position correctly!

We had this years ago because the hole in the porcelain sink was significantly larger than the underside of the tap so regardless of how tight it was, as soon as the tap moved slightly it became loose (as you say, weekly).
OH found some nylon washers with little luggs on them (from the local plumbing merchants) that centralised the tap in the hole and prevented it moving (and thereby coming loose).
Fitted these and the problem was cured never to happen again.
