re-doing the kitchen and seeking experiences on several dual fuel range cookers that seem to have little to no reviews on the web;

Delonghi DSR927 DFX with large single oven
Britannia RC-9TG-DE-S 2 ovens
Britannia RC-9SG-QL-S 90cm Q Line
SMEG C92GPX9

I am keen to hear about experiences on how the oven performs when baking bread, and how the hob performs using the wok burner and the smalles burner to simmer....

Many thanks in advance

We sent back a Delonghi 90cm 2 oven induction range cooker a few months ago. I will never buy from them again.

  • The induction hobs did not fit the pan sizes in their instruction leaflet; then their customer service man tried to argue it was my pans that didn't have enough metal in them; some tests with a magnet proved he was wrong. Three of my pans could only be used on 2 out of 4 of the hobs.
  • The second oven wouldn't even get hot enough on full heat including a considerable pre-heat to cook roast potatoes or let yorkshire puddings rise (conventional oven, those roast potatoes were about 2 inches by 1.5 inches and were in there an hour and a half and didn't crisp up)
  • The induction hob markings literally could not be seen, which, after much to and froing, turned out to be a 'design feature'. I had to hang a torch over it to see the induction zones.

I'd only ever had one electrical appliance from them before; a George Foreman style health grill that the hinges fell apart on after two months of use.

Never again. They are completely style over substance.

Seconding the warning to avoid Delonghi. We had a similar one which we finally got rid of 10 years ago and we still periodically talk about how dreadful it was! Having a single oven combined with the grill was annoying and it was generally very unreliable temperature wise. I've used the first Britannia on your list on holiday and it seemed quite good, but I didn't use it for baking so can't comment on its performance. Hobs were okay.

A family friend who did loads of entertaining and baking had a dual fuel Britannia with double ovens which they were really happy with, but this was back in the early noughties.

We purchased a dual fuel Bertazzoni Professional (90cm with single oven) in 2018 and we absolutely hate it - although it looks fab! The hob has one large burner, three medium, one small plus the wok burner (which is hideously difficult to ignite), when two or more large burners would be more useful imho. The oven takes forever to heat up and struggles to maintain temperature which is a PITA when baking. It has now developed a fault with the digital display so we never know if it's on the correct setting or not.

The reason I'm saying this when you didn't ask about Bertazzoni specifically is that I believe they now make Britannia which would put me right off the brand.

I've no personal experience of Delonghi but haven't heard great things about them online so would avoid.

For 17 years we had a Rangemaster Elan 110 (we've bought both dual fuel and all electric previously) and had no issues with those. DS has now bought the same model/size for his family as he has such good memories of cooking on it at home growing up.

that's good to hear.... the britannia has had some mixed reviews, but I do like its setup esp the hobs....

Love the appearance of Bertazoni, but for those prices they should work absolutely perfect 🙈

Every smeg oven we’ve had has been complete rubbish. We had an electric only one blow up whilst self cleaning and the range model we inherited when we bought the house broke, it wasn’t even particularly old but the part needed was out of stock so nothing for it but to replace. Have a rangemaster (professional plus, dual fuel) now on the advice of my mum BIL and are really impressed.
