Can someone recommended some leafy areas of London that might suit young professionals/city types. Only need a 1 bed as work long hours in the office. Like: Primrose Hill, Belsize Park, parts of Pimlico, parts of Battersea. Area is more important than flat size. Budget is around £2,500-3,000 pcm

Between the commons in Clapham and maybe Swiss Cottage / Maida Vale?

RandyMiceDavies · 15/05/2023 12:53

Where is your office?

overitunderit · 15/05/2023 12:57

There are so many you really need to narrow it down a bit more...where do you work? What kind of things do you like?

My favourite area in south east London is Blackheath or if that's too far or too expensive then Brockley

My favourite in the North is Hampstead

My favourite in west is Wimbledon

My favourites East are Victoria Park Village, De Beauvoir sort of areas

Don't know south well but Clapham is full of city types if that's you're thing

I second Clapham/ Wandsworth common area. I lived in Wandsworth for six years, it was lovely.

if you work long hours in office, convenience of commuting is important

My bad, I should have specified. Work is near Aldgate or Liverpool Street for both.

Notting Hill? Hammersmith and city line all the way into work.

Bayswater/Notting Hill area.

Central Lines goes to Liverpool Street and if closer to Paddington then Elizabeth Line is even better.

Turnham Green/Chiswick is quite nice though commute is longer.

With your budget (1 bed for about 600/week), you should even consider South Kensington/Chelsea.

For Pimlico, have a look at Dolphin Square (a huge 1930's square of flats with gardens and underground parking). We rent there from time to time (DH currently has a serviced apartment, but there seem to be quite a few one beds currently available).

We like having the gardens and the proximity to the river. DH didn't get round to renewing his gym membership (gym has just been refurbed, but swimming pool isn't ready yet).

It's a 5 minute walk from the underground and then I would either go up to Oxford Circus for Central Line or nip out to Hanover Square for the Elizabeth Line.

Warwick Avenue area near the canal? Or Islington

Wapping? Canal paths, along the river, good little parks and walking to your offices

NicLondon1 · 16/05/2023 00:42

Also consider Tufnell Park/Dartmouth Park/Kentish Town, you can walk to Hampstead Heath
Also would cost less so you could save towards mortgage :)
