House opposite, for sale sign up for over a week now, but not on Rightmove or similar

I am keenly aware that i might just need to get myself more of a life, but here goes. House opposite has had for sale sign up for over a week, but nothing up on the estate agents site or on Rightmove.

Why, for the love of god? WHY??????

It's like they are purposely hiding it from you! This would drive me crazy too! I want asking price and pictures, now!

I know!

It is taking up waaaay more of my headspace than it should.

An EA we used previously did this. Put up for sale signs in the middle of the night as soon as signed paperwork before any photos etc had been done. Annoying for those of us who like to have a little nosey!

Normal practice in some areas. If a house is in a road that's in the catchment area of an outstanding school, some estate agents can have an asking-price offer on the table before the photographer has finished polishing her lenses. There will be people who want to move to that street who drive down it every day and will see the "for sale" sign and phone the agent for an immediate viewing.

Meanwhile it was over two weeks between my parents agreeing to instruct an estate agent and the details actually getting on-line, as photos had to be taken, and description written, and there was a back-and-forth editing process before the final copy was approved. If they were in a fast-moving popular area I am sure the sign would have gone up sooner.

They seem to do that with every house I've seen for sale where we live.
They want you to call and ask about it.
They are letting people on their books get first dibs
They are trying to generate a buzz.
It's bloody annoying.
We didn't have a sign with our last house we sold, neither did our neighbours here. Their house sold quickly anyway.

Three houses right around me have sold in the same way over the last two years. All were listed with a local one woman EA. All the sellers were elderly. All the buyers were very happy. It did make me wonder whether she got her sellers the best price.

There are new companies such as buyers market Edinburgh (we subscribed) who match buyers with sellers before they even go to market, so often the estate agents they also work with have offers in before adding to rightmove etc. I'm not saying its the case here as its probably a different area but if sellers wish initial anonymity so only genuine buyers see the details its the way to go. I hate the idea of images of my house all over the portals. This way only genuine buyers looking for a house in my area receive my details. Weve been inundated with potential buyers so no regrets so far.
