Stone floor or porcelain in kitchen. Pros and Cons

DH and I had our heart set on tumbled limestone flooring but DH keeps getting advised by people we are making a mistake and should go for porcelain floors that look like stone.

I’ve got a sample of this https://www.mystonefloor.com/products/abbey-time-worn-sandstone-tiles

and have tried to find an alternative but we really love this floor. DH has been talked out of it, so here I am ‘doing my research’ lol

Can anyone give me some real advice about limestone vs porcelain tiles for kitchen floor?

Any advice would be really helpful. We’re getting an extension and kitchen and utility room done, and I’d love this all over.

I was set on tumbled limestone but ended up being swayed to porcelain.

I am SO glad. I underestimated how much I drop / children drop in the kitchen and the limestone would have been stained from almost the first day we used the new kitchen.

Yes, things break on porcelain but they would on limestone. Porcelain is so easy to clean, it looks almost (but not quite) as good as the limestone I liked and no maintenance.

We haven’t moved in yet 🤷🏻‍♀️🤯 But the cleaning of it has been brilliant after the kitchen has gone in, and other things being done in there, builders in and out. Lots of coffee and Ribena and grout but not actual living.

We may move in next month, if there are no more delays 🤞

I have porcelain inside and in garden. I chose it over stone / screeding because screeding and unpolished stone attracts dirt like anything - mum had stone / screeding in the kitchen and spent 30-40mins scrubbing those floors everyday.

Silly question but do dogs hate UFH?
We have golden retrievers and I’m concerned they will find it uncomfortably warm.

Reading this post with interest as having the same dilemma for the utility / bootroom. How is the Op getting on and can anyone recommend really good porcelain replicas for tumbled marble?
