Kitchen refit advice

I’m trying to design a kitchen in a new space,
I have allocated 7’10’’ by 7’6’’ for a dining table and chairs, open plan to kitchen

then one run of cabinets 4’, to include oven with hob and a 12’’ cupboard either side, hood above and two side cupboards.

then another run opposite of 6’ units, sink with 24’’ units either side and 3 x 24’’ units above.

space for fridge freezer elsewhere in the room.
happy to double height on wall units.
is this enough storage for four adults? Sharing, not family.
thanks!

Why don't you try popping your plan on the DIY Kitchen planner to get a visual idea of your plan in the room?

thank you! I have struggled to find one that let me put my room dimensions in.
do you think it’s enough storage? With additional top cupboards?

I think it’s a stingy amount of storage space - the smallest kitchens I’ve had have had maybe nearly 10 standard sized cupboards worth of space. For 2 adults.

But then if it’s a student/house share type thing they’re not going to have a full set of crockery/glasses etc so maybe it’s just enough.

Rule of thumb is to leave a meter around the dining table to allow space for chairs.

Thanks for the table measurement, yes I can fit that.

For four adults that it too small.

each adult should have their own cupboard. The wall cupboards aren’t as deep. There will then need to be room to store pots and pans, crockery, cleaning products, glasses.

the doesn’t seem to be any drawers? What about cutlery? Is there a washing machine?

I watched all of kitchinsider videos on YouTube for layout and design advice, he's so clear, loved him, he really helped.

The average kitchen has 11 units, apparently.

(As I was informed when I asked the kitchen designer why the quote he had given me was close to £40k and it was the 36 units I’d insisted on. 😄)

Without knowing how big your kitchen is it’s rather hard to comment! Is the problem not enough space to fit cupboards or are you trying to save money by having fewer cabinets?

I have lived in a house with a tiny kitchen with hardly any space and I now have a large kitchen. Obviously the large kitchen is great, but I managed fine with the tiny kitchen, it’s about being organised and more importantly how much stuff you have.

For instance, I currently have a large shelf full of mugs. I never run out of mugs. I use them once and shove them in the dishwasher. In the old kitchen I had an 80s mug tree with 6 mugs on the counter top and washed them up frequently by hand and/or reused a dirty mug for myself.
