Can we fit in an ensuite?

Would love some creative input... is there any way we could reasonably fit in an ensuite shower room to this plan (preferably for bedroom 1)? Unfortunately bedroom 4 needs to stay as an office for WFH purposes. Thanks!

Can you add the downstairs floor plan too please so I can see where the waste pipes are downstairs.

I think you will struggle to put one in near bedroom one but if there is drainage nearby, you could steal a slither from bed 2 and 3 and put an ensuite inbetween them.

I don't know the measurements but if the beds are all the same size then bedroom 3 is the better bet.

I think you will struggle and end up with a too small bedroom with no storage space. Any room for a separate shower downstairs anywhere?

Dies it have to be ensuite? Could you convert the utility room into a shower room and turn the downstairs loo into a utility? Maybe stack the washer drier?

Other option is to borrow from bedroom three, but that would probably make it a single bedroom.

Any thoughts on turning the staircase at the top to create a bit of space for it? Or tacking it on to the top left of bedroom 1 and moving the window along?

you could take a slice off Bed1 like this - you won't be left with much storage space, but maybe you don't mind that.

B = new location of bed
S = shower
with basin in the middle opposite the door (not drawn) and loo at the end nearest the existing bathroom.

I can't see the dimensions of the bathroom and bedroom 1 but would something like this work? Excuse the rubbish diagram on my phone.
With a similar layout we extended the bathroom wall so that the new bathroom wall was the red line - what you have now as the wall between Bedroom 2 and the landing / corridor. We then took about 90cm off bedroom 2 to make a new corridor to Bedroom 1 (what I've tried to shade pink). We then divided the bathroom into a bathroom & ensuite, stealing a little bit from Bedroom 1. The bathroom width is about 1.8m (by about 2.7m) and we have the bath on the window wall, then a long narrow ensuite which is 1m wide (by 2.7m). Will try to find a pic.

I know small ensuites are not popular on MN and lots of people would just prefer a larger bathroom but it works for us. Bedroom 2 is still 12ft x 10ft so a decent size. You have to be careful with fittings and decor to make the bathrooms feel spacious but it was the right choice for us.

Turning a staircase or moving a window seems an awful lot of expense and trouble to squeeze in an en-suite.

Doesn’t seem worth it if all you end up with is a sliver of an en-suite. Personally, I’d not buy a house where an en-suite has been shoehorned into a room, making a master bedroom space small.

Could you reclaim some of the double height space above the dining table? This would widen your bedroom and better let you fit in a narrow ensuite as drawn by another poster, or a more regular shaped one with space left over for wardrobes.

Bedroom 1 is part of a planned extension, so it doesn't matter about the cost of moving windows/ walls there. A second shower would be really useful somewhere, but sounds like it might be pushing it! Thanks all.

Is there any possibility the planned extension could be a few feet longer, then the ensuite would be immediately as you entered the room on the left, right next to the existing bathroom?
