Internal doors

Need to replace crappy internal doors that have been here since house was built around 1980. Not very knowledgable about home improvements! Would the norm be to find someone to supply and fit? Firm? Local joiner? Carpenter? Or is it more usual to source doors, handles, etc and hire someone to fit? Thanks. Any advice gratefully received!

Assuming the doorframes are ok and don’t need replacing, and are a fairly standard size, your best bet is to buy off the shelf doors. Then get a good carpenter or joiner to adjust them (ie shave down height if necessary) and hang them. You definitely want someone who is a wood person not a general handyman.

Todds do lovely doors but not cheap. B&Q/Wilkes etc cheaper.

Bear in mind you will likely need a fire rated door for your kitchen and possibly elsewhere depending on your house layout.

This.

We used someone who advertised as someone who replaced doors - we sourced everything needed after speaking to him, he came and fitted them.
