Bit of a long one sorry!
We are soon to start an extension that will move the kitchen to a better position, connecting it with the living/dining room and giving direct access to the garden. Pic attached, the grey bit is the new family living space, extension is the bit with the kitchen in).
The space that will be left once the kitchen has moved is 4m x 4m, but it is a “walk through room” having 3 doors off it; it is the only route from the living space to the utility room/back door or bedrooms/bathroom (it’s a bungalow). The usable space then becomes 3m x 3m allowing for the walk way passage between the 3 doors.
Current utility space is 1.8m x 4m and is used for laundry, back door to the garden, muddy boots from rural living and 2 (medium / large breed) dogs.
The original plan was to use the walk through room as a second “snug” TV area as we have 2 growing children (current age 4 and 6). Useful for TV arguments but what about teenage years when they live in their rooms?
So now I’m thinking (to the despair of the husband 😂) would the space work better as extra utility room laundry space and guest w.c.? As I’m not 100% sure on the w.c. position by the front door as it seems to be too much in the middle of the living space? We do have a 4th small bedroom that could be used as a TV snug with occasional guest sofa bed when needed?
I know it all depends on individual lifestyle, but just interested to know what others would choose? This is our forever home but don’t want to regret any decisions 🙈
Thanks for reading if you made it this far!
