Terrace - room floors sink at back but brickwork is fine?

I bought a house last year. End terrace built 1870-80s. The surveyor said historic and non-progressive movement; the mortgage company did an in-person valuation and they agreed.

It’s a typical terrace lay out, so kitchen and bathroom at the back.

The floors of the kitchen and bathroom slope down as you walk towards the rear of the house. The thing is, that the exterior brickwork is absolutely fine. No cracks or any indication that anything’s out of alignment, the bricks are all horizontal etc.

It’s an old house and if the surveyor and bank are happy then so am I! I guess I’m just curious as to how/why the floors have sunk and what might be going on?

Collapsed drains under the floor.

The historic movement has likely been repaired a long time ago. Cracks filled and painted inside and repointing done on the outside.

From an aesthetic point of view you may want to level the floors at some point which may require gutting and rebuilding those parts so its a cost to bearin mind unless you are happy living with this quirk.

Is the property on a slope as that could account for it? Have you asked any neighbours if they have had similar issues to see if you can find out what they know about the history?

PS I dont mean the floors slope deliberately because the property is on a slope but rather that the property may have slid down the hill a bit over time and the same may have happened to neighbouring properties.

It might have been built like that. People were less fussy in ye olden days.
What are your neighbours' floors like?

Joists settled, worn or moisture damaged?
