Paint colour for nursery

Hi everyone,

My ds is 3 months and we are (finally) redecorating his bedroom ready for him to move into when he is 6 months old. We live in a 2 bedroom house and likely to have another baby at some point so need to keep the walls a neutral colour should our next be a girl. I am trying to find the perfect taupe/beige colour for the walls but I am finding it so overwhelming looking at paint colours and would therefore appreciate any suggestions of paint colours that you have used that might be suitable so that I don't have to spend a fortune on sample colours!

Many thanks all x

We used bright colours as we read that a baby can distinguish better between colours like red, blue and yellow with a strong preference for red.

White is nice and fresh, and you can use nice bright curtains and rugs to brighten it up

Funnily enough the room is currently red as we used to use it as an office!

It is quite a dark room so I want to try and lighten it up a bit. My thinking is that a neutral beige-y colour is that I can change the look and feel if the room with accessories do that I won't need to repaint again in a few years time as ds get older/another baby comes along

Ours is white. We did it when Ds was around 6 months and he’s nearly 3 years now. It’s nice and bright and a blank canvas

We added those peal and stick stickers (Etsy) with woodland animals which he hasn’t outgrown yet, but when he wants a change I will just peal off and add other decor.

Warm wicker, mellow mocha, soft stone. All dulux. Mellow mocha is an absolute favourite but is a bit purpley, soft stone is more Sandy. Warm wicker is a off white.

We went for bright blue as it was nice and bright - this was for a room for a girl. Then added in some of those wall stickers.

I really love the wall stickers but I worry how difficult it is to remove them. Are they quite easy to peel off?

These look lovely and the sort of tones I had in mind

I wouldn't know the brand, but there were the big nursery wall stickers when we moved into our house, and no damage at all from removing them!

Our stickers seem fine. They haven’t come
off accidentally, but I moved one to add bookshelf in that spot and it easily peels off and stuck back elsewhere.

Wimborne White, Slipper Satin or School House White are all quite warm and calm neutral background colours that you can put a splash of colour against on the furniture, bedding, curtains etc.

AliceTheeCamel · 08/04/2023 22:12

We did pure white walls, with natural wood furniture and bright soft furnishings/accessories.

We used “Steele grey 3” or something. I know people hate grey. It’s quite neutral. Then we have jazzed up with with coloured curtains, lamp shade, rug, wall prints etc. same as you we wanted to keep the base neutral should another child be a Dd or a DS
