Run a mile from buying property with sitting tenants?

We are sale agreed on a house with sitting tenants. Our solicitor has twice said that there may be a problem getting them out when their tenancy ends even though it is a fixed term tenancy. I guess he may have saw other buyers burned by this before. Sellers solicitors pushing us to sign contracts.. What would you do in our shoes?

I ended up homeless and sofa surfing because on the day of exchange the tenants refused to go. It was another five months until the landlord got vacant possession. I'd bought another house by then.

If it's not your dream house, walk away.

It could take you over a year to get them out if they refuse. The law is 100% on the side of the tenant, and not worth risking.

I'm a tenant woth a family. Landlord is selling, LL has said we can stay until he sells, we have said we will try our best to accommodate viewings and make the house look presentable. We have nowhere to move to however will leave when the LL needs us to. Some tenants are accommodating.

I don’t think anyone is saying all tenants behave badly. Indeed our local council are very open that tenants must not move out until bailiffs are due otherwise they will be classed as making themselves homeless.
At my previous job we dealt with a lovely family where circumstances meant they needed social housing in the area when LL sold their rented property. They kept LL advised of what they were doing, why it was happening and continued to pay their rent right up to the day they were offered a new home.

@Goingforplatinum so where will you move to if you have nowhere to move to?
