Bathroom Paint

Hi everyone, ongoing bathroom nightmare here!

I had a decorator paint my bathroom and he used vinyl trade matt (I don't know if this is suitable for bathrooms or not?) The paint is starting to crack along where the wall and ceiling joins. I can't get him back to fix it, he's done a runner 😪 (he was a recommendation from a friend, well reviewed etc etc)

What do I do now? Does the old paint need to be chipped off before painting over with bathroom paint? Can I just paint over it (and sand out any chips?)

Any advice would be great thank you!

Sand over the cracks lightly then put zinsser B I N primer and sealer over it with any bathroom paint if u ask on decorators centre they will tell u which ones to use
The cracking paint may be because the wall was not prepared adequately...

The walls were new plaster that had dried out, he pvc'd them before painting, which I wouldn't do myself but I know is tried and tested old school method right?
If it is that they weren't prepared right, what do you do!? Try and peel it off?!

pvc sort of works, but it needs to be diluted.
Diluted paint works too.

But I would do as pp suggested.
sand, use zinsser BIN primer and sealer on.
then paint with generic bathroom paint.

Really wish I'd done it myself, why oh why are good tradesmen so hard to find 😫

but new plaster does need something. You should never paint directly on to it.

diluted paint, new plaster paint, dilute pvc anything really.

If you put paint striaght on, it will peel off.

Yes, I'd normally use diluted paint, but it wasn't me who prepared it so I'm only able to go by him saying he'd pv'd it.

I got someone in to do it as was worried painting around the new bathroom, really wish I'd cut out the middle man as now going to have to redo myself, could have saved the money!
