Bathroom fixtures

Hi,

We are starting the process of getting our attic converted and adding an en-suite into the space.
Our current en-suite has peeling ceiling, silver fixtures which are constantly stained despite my cleaning.
I'm very much a clean freak and really want something that is easy to keep clean and looks nice.
Toying with the idea of black or gold fixtures. Does anyone have these and recommend them?

Also for grouting of tiles - want something that stains minimally and easy to keep clean and doesn't turn that awful pink mouldy colour.

This is our first 'project' so want to do it right.

Any advice is appreciated, or any photos of fixtures or tiles you have I would love to see.

Thank you!

If your grouting is going " pink" , then that's also because of old ( as you already say ) and damp/ condensation. Get everyone who uses the bath/ shower to give it a showdown after use.
Don't go for gold fittings - get the cleaning product wrong and they go horrible /dull/ tarnished quickly.

Don't do black or gold fittings. I dont know how a brushed finish holds up to water marks?
Grout: depending on the tile colour you choose, grey or beige grout.
Better extraction to prevent the mold.

We're just about to get an en suite fitted and we've had a water softener fitted first, in part to help keep the new bathroom looking good. Means that we should have much less limescale build up on shower screens, fixtures etc. We've also ordered a powerful extractor fan with a humidity sensor which should hopefully reduce the risk of peeling paint and mold build-up.

Apologies for typos , old should be mold and showdown is wipe down.

Thanks everyone for your input.
Will look at the water softener, it's a great idea although we aren't in a particular hard water area.
The grout going pink, regardless of how much I clean I think is to do with the quality of the grout.. I think the cheapest of the cheap was used when the house was built and it just looks really dirty!
