Thermaskirt / Discrete Heat

Has anyone had any experience of this company (Thermaskirt)?

I have got a quote from them, and am considering it as a heating option.

I'd start with one room initially. I like the idea of not having radiators (my room layout is restricted quite a bit because of where they've been placed), and I need new skirting boards anyway.

My qualms are that I've never heard of them really, I don't know anyone who has this in their house, and I'm just not sure it's going to work!!

I'm going to be very pleasantly surprised if anyone has actually used this company, but I'm 100% keeping my fingers crossed someone here has 🤞🤞🤞

If anyone has any experience of this, it'd be great to know what you think!

Thank you

Don't get electric version, obv.

I have seen similar baseboard heating in US. Didn't seem very powerful. See if you can find out the heat output per linear metre, I couldn't see it.

The price seems to be undisclosed unless you invite a salesman into your home, which usually indicates it is overpriced.

The advert suggests it will provide more heat at less cost. This is always untrue.

Thanks, PigletJohn - the cost is definitely higher than for radiators that's for sure. Thanks for the reply!

Hey John
Thanks for replying; although our pricing is on the website and we never send a salesman round.
We might send an engineer/installer after a sale has been agreed to check the facts and identity any snags prior to installation; but 85% of our business is self-install/DIY or installed by other contractors.
You are right that output per M is lower than traditional radiators or typical USA style baseboard but that's not the point; radiant floors are less per M2 than ThermaSkirt but it's the heat distribution, cleanliness and safety that's common to both radiant floors and ThermaSkirt.
ThermaSkirt is just easyier to fit and ammend.
Notice I'm using US terminology; we supply around 3 or 4 home owners a month in the USA and Canada despite having no marketing pointing to the USA. We're launching properly later this year in the US.
To date we have 70,000 installations in the UK and are working with major players such as Barratts, Taylor Wimpey Bellway and others including the NHS and Butlins.
We are the best kept secret in plumbing and heating.
And LegalLights; sorry to hijack your post. I have been on Mumsnet for many years and time to time Google sends me alerts. I am happy to set the record straight where there is misunderstanding or miscommunication about my company, product or service.
Hope you don't mind.
Kind regards
