How do I plasterboard the roof space?

We're finally getting round to sorting out the roof space of the house we moved into a couple of years ago.

The roof space looks a bit like the photo attached (not as big, and the slopes bits meet at a point rather than having a flat bit of ceiling.

The sloped parts have insulation in between the wood. It's been floored and there's insulation under the floor.

There's a pile of drywall sheets which was there when we moved in (I'll check for definite that that's what they are, but I'm fairly sure). It looks like the plan was to attach the sheets to the wooden beams to make a nice smooth wall, so I plan to complete that job.

It doesn't matter too much about it being super neat, as long as it's not awful. There are no sockets or anything to work around; I can't see pipes or cables either, but obviously will check carefully before doing anything.

Do I just buy drywall screws and attach the sheets to the beams using an ordinary drill? And then put some of that tape stuff over the joins? Then a wee layer of something to cover the tape, and then paint it?

Is there anything I need to be careful about or anything else I need to do? I'll probably just paint it a plain colour afterwards; if it's a bit rough I might wallpaper it. It'll just be used for storage, though, so it doesn't matter too much.

Any tips?

Pretty much as you say. You'll need two people, they're heavy so you someone to hold them while you screw.

You need a ph2 drill bit not pz for plasterboard screws.

You can just scrim tape and fill over if you're happy for it to be fairly rough.

Watch some YouTube videos on how to cut it.

Good luck

Thanks! DH can help me lift it, as long as I can do the rest, so that sounds ok.

Is there anything that can go horribly wrong (other than drilling into a pipe or wire)?

You'll need batons between the rafters, spaced 40-60cm apart depending on the thickness of the plasterboard you're using. Thinner plasterboard needs more supports because it's less self supporting. Without that, the boards will sag over time under their own weight.
