Covering up wallpaper temporarily

Moved into our new (dated) house and will be having a full renovation in about 6 months time. The house is currently liveable but has awful dated peeling wallpaper all over. Any tips for covering it temporarily without spending too much?

Eventually all walls will be replastered and painted but what's the best option for now with limited budget/time? Looked at cheap paint but seems a waste if we will be painting properly in 6 months time. Also looked at cheap wallpaper that sticks on wall but looks unreliable. Any ideas welcome, thank you.

Personally, I’d just live with it for the 6 months. Would probably start stripping it, but don’t see the point in spending money on a temporary cover-up which would look crap any way.

Assuming whoever is doing the renovation will be preparing them for plastering (because we had to take ours back to bare walls for skimming), I’d live with it too. In 6 months you’ll wonder why you bothered spending the time or money to cover it up.

If you’re expected to prepare the walls for skimming, I’d just remove the wallpaper now and live with it.

Disclaimer: I’ve lived in a building site for 6 months and am fed up clearing building dust 😀

I'd just strip it. You soon get used to the bare walls & it's better than horrid wallpaper that's peeling off.

don't paint it, you'll end up with it on the floor in a heap!

Just strip it. You may find the top layer just peals off leaving a lining layer. Or you may find whatever colour paint was on the walls before it was papered.

I'd definitely strip it. We've been in this situation several times and have lived on many a building site with young DC, so whilst from experience the six months will pass quickly, if you really can't live with peeling paper just take it off.
