Can I remove half of shared garage? (PHOTO)

Wanting to remove my side of the garage, and instead have a fence where is was for more garden space.

Is this allowed when it is attached to someone elses garage? Or would it need planning permission?

Obviously I would chat to neighbours & I am expecting that I would need to ensure the once middle wall is now an appropriate outside wall & their roof is sealed etc

Any advice appreciated 🤗

The partition wall was single brick being the only issue.

Your local authority planning department will be able to give pre-advice. A change of street scene (especially where the rest of the road is very consistent) can be a reason to refuse planning permission.

It won't need planning permission. Sometimes other firms if consent are required under the planning legislation eg if in a Conservation Area, a Listed Building, or a whole house. It would be very unlikely in the example shown.

Looking at that style of house, I would check your deeds for any covenants first. It's not unusual for that style of estate to require permission from the original developer (or their successors) to make any adjustment to the front of the property. A work colleague had this situation with a house that looked pretty much identical to yours.

Do you know why the layout of the newer slabs is so far off the centre-line of the garages? - it may just be that they were laid on the cheap, but it can also indicate previous petty disagreements with neighbours over responsibility/ownership of the drive.

As to the garage you need a builder to quote for what needs to be done to know it can be done and that it's within your budget. It may need a civil engineer to do some calculation (if I was your neighbour I'd want the reassurance of an engineers calculations). Your local Planning Department should be able to advise you on the planning permission issue.
