what are your top tips. I have an 18 mth old who loves routine and only sleeps in his cot, despite my best efforts to make him a snuggler. Will it be a nightmare, getting him to settle somewhere else? Will I cope with showing the house with him in tow, a trail of destruction behind him? I don't cope well with stress, but we have been trying to make this place work for 3 years and it ain't happ'nin.
Help! Any top moving house tips? I'll be your best friend...
PS: we are moving within the same town.

If you make it seem a big deal he will pick up on it . Be very matter of fact , arrange his room similarly and it'll be fine. Better if he is out of the way for viewings where possible.

Hmmm, yes, not making a fuss...not my strong point! Must try harder! I have my Mum on tap, so he can easily be out of the way for viewings. Ta.

We recently moved and it was all fine. dd managed very well and to be honest, once her new room was set up with all the stuff from her old room, it was a real home from home with all the familiar furniture, toys etc around her. So it was not half as bad as I thought it might be. It'll be fine and hopefully very exciting for you all, try not to worry too much, and great that you have your mum locally to help, too!

Start packing up now, then they see you doing it daily as opposed to a mad dash at the end. We moved when ds1 was 16 month. For the actual day we handed him off to my parents, and they had him over-night. Which meant that we had painted his room, set up his cot and wardrobe so he had familiarity. The rest of the house was chaos!!!

For selling, I had large rattan storage baskets in the lounge which meant when we were rang with a viewing to take place in the next 30 mins I chucked loads of stuff into those baskets so everywhere looked good.

If your house isn't working now then pack all the stuff you don't need. Be ruthless; it's a good time to purge (I am mid packing to put my house on the market and am secretly getting rid of excess toys )

Fizzy, yes, we will hand him over to granny on the day, when it eventually happens. Estate agents are coming this week to let us know rough value of our place, then we'll know if it's a go-er or not!
