DIY kitchens integrated dishwasher door....

We've ordered some new doors and cupboard fronts for our kitchen.
Our integrated dishwasher has a drawer and cupboard front and was the only option we could see to order. We cannot work out how to fit them. I assumed, when ordering, that they would be joined together as one piece to fit onto the dishwasher, but they have come as two separate pieces.
Hope this makes sense and someone can help. Are there any instructions on the website to help? Thank you

If I remember rightly our new dishwasher came with a kit to add a door. It had screws and a diagram of where they would go in the new door xx

If a professional fitter was doing this, they would be using metal straps to join the two pieces together on the reverse side, probably using a specialist tool to carefully cut a recess into the door of the exact dimensions of the strap so that the reverse surface is smooth and flat.

if you've just ordered new fronts, surely you can see on the old one you've just taken off the details of how it was fitted?

Ah sorry. I wasn't clear. We have bought a secondhand integrated washing machine to fit.

The appliance door we got from them was just a single piece one, though it wouldn't have fitted in if yours is in a run of "drawerline" units. I wouldn't worry too much about the "fitting kit" you might have got with a new dishwasher - it would only have included some screws, and a few screws are neither here nor there when you're fitting a whole kitchen!

I think @FeinCuroxiVooz has the right idea about how the pros would go about this. Are you trying to install this all yourself, or are you just concerned as to how your fitted should go about things?

The door fitting kit kit comes with the dishwasher. So I presume you don’t have it.

I have just ordered a freestanding one for this reason! So much less hassle.

DS's integrated dishwasher has just packed up. Looking at replacements companies charge £120 to remove and re-fit a new dishwasher and replace the door!

@Silversalt Much easier to put a freestanding one in the gap. I’ve done it in my last 2 properties when the integrated one has packed up. The integrated door is just another thing to go wrong! It also looks perfectly smart without it, if that’s what people dislike.

I've just been in touch with DIY kitchens. Turns out there was a bracket that was missing from our delivery!

Wow thanks, I had no idea you could do that. DS is the least practical person on earth so asked my advice.
So can you just slide the integrated one out? Isn't there usually a board thing at the bottom? It's only a slimline one so I don't know if that's different but it's a wren kitchen. Was in the house when he bought it.

CattySam · 01/03/2023 17:43

@Silversalt The plinth should come off relatively easily. Then just measure the gap and get a freestanding one that fits. Although they’re all pretty much the same size. We did it with a slimline one in last house and a full sized one in current property. If you order from curry’s they will disconnect and connect for you as well, for a fee!

Any handyperson should be able to replace the integrated door no problem.
