House move fear

Is it normal to get the fear when thinking about moving house ? I've been wanting to move for years but now that we're looking at house's its giving me the absolute fear. Put an offer in on a 5 bed terraced house now worrying about having neighbours on either side and the noise as currently have a semi detached 3 bed. Wanted a bigger house for years so kids can all get there own rooms so no idea why I'm worrying but I cant stop, its crazy as I know it will be fine in the end

It’s fear of the unknown.
It is a stressful thing to do and a major upheaval, even if you move a small distance, everything changes. From where you store your mugs to the route going to school/work/shops.
You are not alone in being worried, but as you say, it (usually fingers crossed) works out.

@NameAlreadyTaken16 - I get this . Moving house is stressful & change for most people is stressful. All I can tell you is I cried every time we moved into a new house and I cried every time we left that house.

If you have done your research - and made sure nothing too awful - so enough visits to make sure no-one has a music studio on one side or 4 kids with drum kits or doing mini Glastonbury in their gardens ( I am joking there but you see my point - obvious noise ) - then when you move just remind yourself why you did it. My son has never lived in anything other than a terraced house ( we are on our 3rd ) and he is a thriving happy young man & we have always got on with our neighbours. It can work 😊

Just tell yourself that these times can be stressful and live with it in the short term. I am absolutely sure it will be fine.

Best wishes @NameAlreadyTaken16 - I do understand the nerves , but I think that is absolutely normal

cross posted with @Alphabet1spaghetti2 who I thinks speaks much sense

DH and DC & I have lived in terraced houses for over 35 yrs and have not had a problem . I know they are sometimes not favoured on MN but there are advantages - no outside walls ( apart from front and back ) so easier to heat , maintain etc.

I can't promise you but if my experience is anything to go by I would not worry - I suspect it is the anxiety of moving which is absolutely normal - which I also suspect will pass given a bit of time. I felt anxious in the house before this one ( terraced ) when we first bought it. Honestly I shed a tear when we sold it. Moving house is stressful but keep breathing & am sure everything will be fine

So just to reiterate - moving house and nerves / anxiety etc is normal 💐

Totally understandable, we started the process last March and I feel like I've barely slept since. Two chain collapses and we're basically back at square one putting ours back on the market and then looking for something new to buy. I'm an anxious mess but as you say it'll work out in the end!
Good luck with it hope it all goes smoothly for you

It is stressful and it’s never risk free. I think you have to accept a certain amount of noise if detached so best to be prepared.

I am moving shortly soon, it’s given me absolute dread. I’ve never sold before and lived in the house growing up so barely any moves at all. I feel like things will never be the same and I will live my life constantly anxious and wanting to go home? I do suffer from anxiety / panic but can normally keep a lid on it! However, this is really testing. Did anyone else have it to the extreme and it worked out okay?
