UPVC window sill cover

After some advice please. We are having trouble with condensation on the bedroom window, its the only room that seems to get it. We open the windows every day. Its making the paint flake off the window sill and was wondering if it would be better to get a UPVC window sill cover instead of trying to keep repainting it all the time. Has anyone got these? Would you recommend them? I know very little about all these new products so dont know how good they are. Thanks for any help.

I have them and I hate them. There are wooden window sills underneath and if I knew how to I would rip the plastic ones off!

Maybe try sleeping with the window very slightly open?

Can I ask why you hate them? It would only be for in this one room.

I just think they are a bit ugly! But that is just my personal view. Just one for practical reasons is not so bad.

We have them in two bay windows. I loathe them. They are so ugly. The ones upstairs are loose (very tempted to just rip them off, but not sure how much mess it will make of the plaster). They are marked and never look clean no matter how much I clean them. Some of the plastic is discoloured. And the bedroom window that gets condensation is still covered in mould.

If condensation is a real problem at your window, I’d be worried about it collecting under the plastic and causing more damage that you don’t notice. Have you tried a dehumidifier, or one of those moisture trap things?

Thanks everyone some things to think about there. Didnt think of them going discoloured that would annoy me just as much.

We have one in our bathroom as we stand things on the windowsill and it was making the paint all flaky, the window is UPVC but the wooden surround was left, (1930s house) it's a lot easier now to just wipe over and looks fine, we got ours from Amazon for about £15 iirc as they had the correct depth. DH cut it to shape, glued it on and then put sealant all round and it has stayed put.

Ours hasn't discoloured and is in a south facing room

Thats good to know not everyone hates them. They would make life easier with not having to keep sanding and repainting every couple of years.

We have a similar issue and the previous owners put in laminate like worktops although much thinner than kitchen worktops. They're white so inoffensive but can cope with being damp.
