Hello all, just trying to work out whether some windows need changing, or even how old these could be, in a house recently bought. The upvc frames seem to be in ok condition . Just wondered about the little 'things' at the bottom of the glass pane - what are these , does anyone know?Pic attached. Thanks

Those frames look wooden, not UPVC??
Can't help with the little metal things though - they look like part of the frame construction

thanks @Walkacrossthesand .They are upvc definitely. I’ve never seen windows with these beady things before.

Can’t help you with the little things but I wouldn’t replace any windows unless they’ve either warped / popped out of the frames (you’ll get a draft round the edges if they have) or if the glazing has gone - you’ll see condensation inside the frame. Otherwise it’s just spending money for the sake of it - and that’s fine if you can do that and want to update the look of them but they don’t actually “need” doing otherwise.

@Xrays Thanks that’s exactly what I’m asking. What you said makes sense.

We have the same in ours - I assume it's just part of the structure.
Ours are Anglian windows fitted about 25 years ago.

Could they be screw covers?
