should I wedge a non-integrated dryer in here (pic)

The integrated dryer has died, it's Hoover and apparently 2 years old (we moved in in November). There's no choice when it comes to integrated dryers unless I basically buy the same model and I frankly thought it was rubbish! There's much more choice when it comes to freestanding dryers and they are a good bit cheaper. I've measured and I can get a freestanding dryer in, it will stick out from under the worktop by about 3cm and I'll need to cut the kick board. The dryer would go next to the drawers. DH thinks I'm nuts but I think it will look ok, opinions??

Personally I would chop any parts of the kitchen necessary and put a vented dryer in. I have done similar for a dishwasher, but my kitchen is a lot older and less sleek looking than yours. My kitchen basically looks a bit unsightly and old, but all appliances are 100% functional and useful. I would sacrifice looks for function and convenience any day.

OP, bear in mind heat pump tumble dryers aren’t recommended for garages. They lose their efficiency in very cold temperatures. As it’s a utility room I’d just get the most energy efficient dryer you can (I’d go for a Bosch every time) and not worry about it sticking out a bit.

Wouldn't care in a utility room.

Used to have mine in a garage and it was a massive pain.

My dishwasher sticks out a similar amount in my kitchen and it doesn't bother me at all.

As it is the utility room rather than the kitchen, I personally would do it and use it for more than just towels. I'd recommend getting a good heat pump dryer, which will be much faster and cost less to dry a load than your dehumidifier. If you do lots of laundry like me, (3 kids plus 3 dogs,) you won't regret it.

If it was a kitchen nearing the end of its days I probably would... but that one's nice and snazzy. Same rationale meaning we're having to get rid of our big American fridge-freezer with a house move as we just can't justify messing about with a really decent new kitchen.
